Apologies. Apologies for absence were received from Cllrs Mr D Poppitt, Mr R Jones, Mr T Evans and              Mr I Roberts.   

120. MINUTES.  The minutes of the meeting s of the Council on the 26th February 2014 were confirmed as a correct record.


112. Chirk Play Scheme. The Clerk provided copies of the posters that had been sent by the Wrexham CBC Play Development Team for each member and said these would be put up on the Notice Boards.  The Chairman recommended that a banner advertising the details of the play scheme is provided and placed on the fencing on the Chapel Lane Recreation Ground.  This was agreed.                                                        116. Chirk Triathlon. The Chairman informed the Council that he along with the secretary of the Wrexham Tri Club were to visit a local resident to allay fears about noise on the Race Day.                                         118a. Water Problem at Lower Barrack Hill. The Clerk reported further letter from the Highways Dept. Wrexham CBC advising that if the water is not mains water then road will have to be excavated to find and deal with the problem and a probable road closure.                                                                                            118b. Chirk Fun Day. The Chairman advised that the Fun Day will be held on Saturday 28th June 2014. 118d. Whitehurst Gardens. The Clerk confirmed that Glynis Shaw will be attending the Annual Town Meeting to give a presentation about proposals for the Gardens.


122.NEIGHBOURHOOD POLICING.                                                                                                                                                      

       PCSO Grace Jones attended the meeting and gave crime statistics for the last month as follows:                     

       Theft – 1,     Theft other than dwelling – 1, Criminal Damage – 1; ASB Events – 5.                                              

       She informed the Council that notices for sensible parking had been put on to vehicles parked illegally.       

       The Council agreed that the officer’s priorities for the coming weeks should be The Millennium Gardens      

       and Recreation Ground, Chirk Car Park, Chirk Leisure Centre and speeding at both schools.                       

       The Chairman thanked PCSO Jones for her attendance and report.                                                           



Members received copy of the report and all agreed it was correct and was approved.

124.  REPORT OF FINANCEE HELD THE 19th MARCH 2014.                                                                                      Members received a copy   of the report and all agreed it was correct and was approved.                                                   


Members noted the report of the General Purposes Committee and the Clerk said that he would now be contacting Mr George Porter to arrange a suitable date for the presentation evening.  All members were invited and invitation given to local organisations etc for them to send representative.



AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY.                                                                                                          Cllr Mr Frank Hemmings reported that he and Cllr Allen had attended a meeting of the ANOB at the Community Centre, Froncysyllte when the main topic was Tourism and how this can and will be promoted for the benefit of the area that Chirk is part of.

127.APPEALS FOR FINANCIAL AID. The following appeal was received and dealt with: -           

(Cllr Holmes declared an Interest).                                                                                                  Chirk AAA’s Football Club –It was agreed to donate £500.00 towards a new football kit that will include the Council detail.  This was agreed.



The Clerk reported receipt of correspondence that was dealt with as follow: -

a.       E letter from Glynis Shaw confirming that she will attend the Annual Town Meeting on the 30th April and give a presentation on Whitehurst Gardens.

b.      E letter from Sheila Dee confirming that the improvements to access at Chirk Station will benefit from £2m funding from the Welsh Government.  This information was noted.

c.       Letter from the Chief Environment Office, Wrexham CBC advising that the water oozing from the road at Woodside Cottages is not found to be mains water it will be necessary to have an ORDER to close the road for remedial work to be carried out.


Payments.                                                                                                                                                          A list of invoices and payments amounting to £4,789.15 were given to the Council and were passed for payment.  (see addendum).
